Drove a new Z06

My Mother-in-law just bought a new black Z06 fully loaded. She called me at work today and said if I'd come to dinner she would have the Z ready for me to take a spin. Never being shy of driving any cool car, I quickly accepted. After eating, I grabbed the keys and took off. My impressions of the car are as follows.
Car handles and drives very well. GM has truly built a world class automobile. I've had two Z06's and the newest version is very well thought out. However, I never thought I would say this but the car felt like a slug. I know it's not fair after getting out of my car. When I mashed in to it I kept waiting for it to slam me back and get violent, but it never did. Don't get me wrong they are fast for a stock car but getting out of my turbo car kinda hurt the excitement factor. I've gotten use to driving around in a 1100 whp+++ car. This got me to thinking, What automobile out there (outside of high end exotics) can give me a thrill? In my head I kept telling myself while driving the Z that this is a fast car. I have a feeling that I would feel this way even driving a stock 08 viper. It would be hard for me to own a stock anything now.

The stock Z06 is a slug......way under powered in my book. I drive a stock 06' Z06 for a demo and it kill's me sometimes!! :cursin:

I would say either a Arial Atom or a Caterham 7 would give you that thrill. :D

Theres a lot of Mustang guys cruising around low 8 second outlaw cars on the street. Full cage and chute Fox bodies with big single turbo setups on slicks. Theyve even hit high 7's on drag radials. :scared:

These cars are considerably cheap to build in comparison to the Viper, and may be the only "exciting" thing to add to the stable. Of course, though, you are going to lack all creature comforts. They are pretty bare bones and basic, but thats the fun of it.

There is honestly nothing better for the price than a 1000+ hp Viper with A/C and leather. You can drive around all day and be comfortable, but its still a beast under the hood that is gonna outrun 99% of what you come across on the street.

I drove a few C6Z06's and I did not like them at all. They felt very ordinary unlike the Vipers, which feel special. The interior in the Z has no character at all.

Well, you can't compare a 1000+ hp modified viper to a stock vette. Put some turbos on the vette and it will be fast too.

You can however compare a stock ZO6 to a stock viper, and in my opinion the viper is the hands down winner unless you are looking for a daily driver. The vette is a great car, don't get me wrong, but it seemed to lack the passion that the viper has, not to mention the power of an '08 which is very impressive for a stock car.

You're right it lacked the passion. It is a very nice car though. Yes I would own one but not before a Viper.:thumbs:
