I want to gut my stock cats on 96 gts so I pass the visual emissions at least, I know some cars can pass emissions without a cat and some cars can't. Has anyone passed the tail pipe test without cats or with gutted cats?

Visual emissions test  Not sure how they would visually check to see if the cats were on your Viper unless they pull off the side sills!

Highly depends on the state, too. Youre in CO right?

yea i guess they cannot visually inspect for them so I guess the only problem would be not passing the sniffer test. I heard another guy was able to pass the sniffer in texas with them removed. I am in colorado.

Most states just plug into the OBD port on OBD compliant vehicles and just check for codes.

Does your stated use the sniffer on all cars?

I passed every time with high flow cats, and they use the sniffer. I'm in California.
