Other than collectibility reasons, I see no reason anyone would pay for one of these. Base price alone is ridiculous, not including dealer markup.

IMO, theres not really much room for upgrades either. None that would make any sense in using a ZR1 as a platform anyway. May as well use a stock Z06 if you are going to do a big power build.

Looks like the Viper comes out on top this time in bang for buck comparison...

Car and Driver story: HERE (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/supercars_and_exotics/2009_chevrolet_corvette_zr1_first_instrumented_tes t_results_feature)

Overall their numbers were only .01 quicker down the quarter than a stock 08 Viper.

Zero to 60 mph in 3.4

Zero to 100 mph in 7.6 seconds

An 11.5-second, 128-mph quarter-mile

Just like the Shelby GT500 (forgive the comparison), it's for collecting alone.

For that amount of money, you could build a MUCH better Z06. I wonder if for that price, yu get a better interior?

yea, post it up. Vette interiors have always been lacking. But you think for $100k+, you would get a $100k+ interior. Or at least a $50k+ interior?

no chit. I have like 25% of a cupholder in my Z06. If I ever nail the throttle, I got cherry limeaids doing 3-4 end over end flips then into the rear cargo area. :cursin:

You have to applaud Bob Lutz for getting stuff done. That is a dead cert for a 10 second car with sticky tires - something that has not happened since the Hurst SS Hemi Darts and Barracuda's - only with more top end and it corners and brakes too... an unbelievable 97 feet from 60mph!

Still I agree that the ZO6 with the LS7 is the better car overall - more fuel efficient, lower CG, will match the ZR1 with nothing but a rechip, headers, exhaust and cam swap, and the LS7 is just a really good motor if kept under around 700hp.... who else will give you a production engine with dry sump, titanium rods and valves, and 427 cubes that delivers over 30mpg at cruise?

If only bits wouldn't fall off the car, like the roof etc, it'd be epic.

I prefer the C4 ZR-1 over the new one, sure it may be slower, the interior may not be as nice, and it may not be supercharged, but it does have one thing over the new one, an LT5. The C4 ZR-1 may be a car built in the '90's but it's more exclusive than the new one will be. But with only 6,939 produced between 1990 and 1995, I think it will be more exclusive, and more valuable in the future.

I agree with this. The ZR1 was a pretty neat car for the time. I bet with a nice all motor build (Lingenfelter had/has a nice one), it really rips.
