Hi Everyone,

Just joined the forum and looking forward to hanging with you guys. I just bought a 2000 Steel Gray Viper a few months ago after I wrecked my Honda S2000. All I can say is WOW! My coworkers say I'm going through a mid-life crisis, but I don't care; this is one torquey beast.

I'm interested in finding out more about how I can make this thing run well at the local autocross and what I can do to prolong the reliability (the former owner told me not to expect much).

Right now the car is unmodified, and if anything, I will probably go the tires/brakes/suspension route to help in the autocross.

Any advice in that area would be greatly appreciated.

Also, any advice on how I can be a productive, contributing member to this form would help out too!

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

-Ross

Pics coming soon... gotta figure out how to display pictures on the forum. I'm new to online forums in general, but I'll check the FAQ's to figure that stuff out.

I think I'll be spending a lot of time in the "Test and Tune" section. Is there a section devoted specifically to autocrossing?

Also, I was looking around at some of the other sections... I know this is a dumb question but bear with me. What does "NWS" mean? It can't mean anything good if it's password protected ;), but I was just curious.

Thanks for the warm welcome. See you guys around.

Now two things. First get pictures of your viper. Second, that password is yours for a little of that casino cash!

Welcome to the board!

Man, I guess the password is worth it then :D.

Pictures coming soon, but I thought I read that only moderators could give out the password with a private message? What are you trying to pull? Haha, just kidding.

I'm more concerned with finding out about how to upgrade the ride for autocross, but if you don't charge me too much casino cash, I might want to take a look. What's your price?

This is NOT my personal Viper! Don't want you guys to think I'm trying to pull the wool over your eyes. I just google searched this one and it is almost identical to the one I have. Just to give you an idea.

Once I get some good pictures of my own, I'll post them up.

Steel Gray is one of the greatest colors they ever sprayed on a viper. Good choice.

Welcome! Beautiful car. As per your question about setting up your car, it depends on how much money you have to spend. I am setting up my car as fallows. I have Moton 3 way adjustable shocks. ccw wheels with one inch offset in the 335,18 size (dont go bigger). Toyo ra1's. adjustable sway bar. Quaife differential, and stoptech big brake kit. Once thats done you will have one bad ass ride. Opinions will vary on brakes and tires. There are cheeper ways to go but that is pretty close to the ideal setup. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice... I'll look into it. Any vendors you recommend?

Since you are in the DFW area there are some other guys around there that might lead you in the right direction. For now, I would say that A.R.T. in Buda is the closest option to you that specializes in Vipers and are a great group of guys!
