Its crazy he ran those times +speeds. When the car wasnt even broken in. I cant imagine how much faster its going to be after the break in period..

I've always been told that "break ins" these days, with the tolerances and advances in both casting and forging not to mention assembling, can honestly be done away with.

I had a buddy who had one of the fastest stock internal LS1's in the nation. It put down 346 rear wheel (remember these were only rated at 320 @ the crank!) with only a lid, ported mass-air, and ported TB, and the EGR mod and ran 12's at 3600ft elevation. The folks at the dyno shop thought there was a glitch in their dyno so they ran it several times. Anywho, going back to break ins subject, the very first day my buddy had the car with less than 10 miles on the dial, he ran the dog piss out of it and even topped it out under full throttle a couple of runs down the highway. A few of us always figured that this sort of "break in" actually may have stretched things and helped them set in better and made the car ultimately run better as compared to pussy footing it around a few thousand miles...

pretty much

the key is a few hot cold cycles then building up steadily in rpms at lighter loads before giving it death.... and never thrash a cold engine

done right a modern engine can be dialed in over a few days or with race clearances - same day.

I agree.
Look at all the different threads with the big new engines installed, turbos etc with big dyno numbers...

How did they get dyno numbers on new engines w/o winding the engine out?

Not to change the subject here. But why does Sadi call Jaime, "Pee Wee"?

well we all know what pee is, and wee is British for the same thing

perhaps Sadi was hoping to share a golden shower with this Jamie and learn the secrets of his driving style?

"Pee Wee" Furman was named due to his twinkle toed technique, which has allowed him to hoodazzle drag racing fans all over the country with lower et's than any other driver has accomplished in "bone stock" corvettes and Vipers. Hollywood has "Pee Wee" Herman but drag racers have "Pee Wee" Furman. You can also call him "Spermin' Furman" but only on the actual day that he breaks a new record.
