96-99 have the forged pistons. So I would try and get one. Get one in one of those years. Good luck

It depends on what your going to do. If your going to pull the motor and build -it...it doesn't matter what year you get. The 2001-2002 ACR's are the best IMHOP due to ABS.

If your going for over 900rwhp, I recomend a 01-02. If you don't care about not having ABS get what year you want.

As far as repairs, Clutch tires and brakes are your biggest issues. As long as you don't do a lot of hard cornering, these cars are bullet proof.

Clutch replacement + the labor should be around $1,000

The most important factor in choosing a GTS is color.

Wow, that's not bad at all. My Vette had a small - I mean small tranny fluid leak -because of the tranny orientation of the Vette - I had to pay almost 1,700 for the shop to replace the seal and R and R the tramnsmission. this inlcuding the "special GM tranny fluid" that the shop used.:cursin:

You got ripped off. The clutch it's self can be had for under $200. You should be able to get the clutch done for $500 or less.

I replaced another Viper owner's clutch (free labor). It wasn't bad and we got the clutch (stock) for $200. How is that " :werd: "

Because I don't see the point in paying "Viper Tax".

For a yellow you would be looking at an '01 or '02 car. Silver is '98 and '99.

Good luck finding your car.
