Saw several pro-mod cars run this weekend in Houston. Saw a couple of 240 mile an hour traps. Mike Moran is running damn pro-stock times!

Andy, I was sitting in the reserved seats near the starting line of the track and could feel the force from Urlacher's explosion all the way down there. It didn't happen until late in the run, too but it was big. Tire went with it immediately. Im surprised he kept her straight. :scared:

It will always usually happen on the big end. (Motor is under the greatest strain there...) When they were running the full 1/4 and if we were no longer in the Race, all the Drivers and Teams would sit down on the end for the fireworks show!!:D

mid 6's at 211mph is amazing from NZ motors. Are they still 500 cube limited in NHRA or are these mountain motors like the IHRA run?

500CI. N/A only in NHRA.
ProStock is a very hard Class to compete in. The car has no downforce really and is on a "razor's edge" the whole way down so to speak. You could'nt get me in one!!! Hat's off to the ProStock guys.

i wish they'd loosen up the rules though
Pro stock could be the most amazing class if they allowed for genuine innovation. But there is so much vested money interest in the sport that genuine innovation just get's killed.
Anderson found 50hp by using a special ceramic matrix rod developed by Kirk Jager
outlawed
the rods are the best thing since sliced bread - imagine a rod that has the stretch clearances of a steel rod, the strength of a race alloy rod, is lighter than either AND lasted 100m cycles in testing which means perfect for street or race. Best of both worlds yet this guy has struggled to get his product anywhere
that story has 1000 others where innovators are kicked in the balls because they challenge the big boys, cannot compete on the contingency money, and the big boys make too much money in incremental improvements of existing product lines to fund a revolutionary product.
One day I am seriously going to consider starting up an innovators race class that rewards innovation that has potential real world benefits. The prize money will be bloody attractive to get people out of their box thinking within stupid rules :yep:
