On the list of things that suck, you will NOT find this on there... My uncle has a 42' Fountain w/ twin 525s on Lake Texoma and apparently Ross Perot has a turbine Fountain there.... Got me researching and now Im masturbating...

Jet A does get a little pricey at times, but I doubt one who purchases such a vessel gives a shit...

This particular boat is not his, but he does have a turbine powered Fountain... I guess if I were him I would have one or two as well... :yep:

The beauty of those turbine boats is they will run on anything... JetA isn't required as you don't need the antifreezing properties of it. Most of the turbine boats run on regular ole #2 diesel :nana:

Yeah they burn quite a bit more of it compared to a gas piston engine, but given the hp, twice as much diesel far outweighs buying C16 that the big power piston boats need.

btw fountains are pretty low rent in the offshore boat world.

what an incredible rush I bet!

I wonder about throttle control and handling to keep the boat manageable in tight spots and cruising in traffic

That's pretty much been the biggest issue with them... but since they added a crash box with a reverser, and a prop brake they are MUCH more manageable. They still don't like to be fired up and shut down constantly, but hell I could deal with it.
