Probability would favour Israel if only because of 2 things:

1 - they have said they would be pre-emptive
2 - they aren't known for bluff

I picked Iran, but I hope its Israel that does it. If we would only get our thumbs off of them and they gave the bird to the UN, no one would have any trouble out of the middle east....

I think Russia. They are feeling their oats right now and daring us to do anything about it.:shady:

While Iran and Israel are possibilities, I think it is a toss between India and Pakistan. With the influx of a radical Muslim influences, this would be a very real possibility that an skirmish between these two could escalate easily.

Russia still has enough of a brain to understand the MAD theory. Israel will do what it needs to survive, but not push a button unless it has to. The public outcry would be overwhelming. Iran runs the risk of pushing itself into the next Libya after the fact.

My money goes on Israel. Those guys don't fuck around and the only thing that keeps Iran on the map is our political interference with the Israeli heads of state.

If the US ever quits babysitting Israel they will wreck some shit. A smaller scale nuke just for a show of force may do some good over in that part of the world.

Russia is selling off equipment and services to India as well as Iran. Some of India's latest (as in right now) Naval acquirements are platforms that Russia never expected to need to sell. India is now using equipment that no other country uses other than Russia itself.

Youre right about Israel in that they are (and have been) more than laid back in the things they tolerate on a day to day basis. Aside from their governement slowly being transformed into a more and more liberal minded farse as the oldtimers die off and are replaced by "modern thinkers," they are doing pretty well. They have to do well because they have everything to lose.

For Israel I always like to use the analogy that best explains what one might feel in their same situation. I hope this helps put it into perspective. :yep: Imagine you live in nice a house; in a decent neighborhood. Its the house you always wanted and you work hard for it every day. You wouldnt imagine moving anywhere else, no matter what.

You have some pretty shady and unfriendly neighbors that mostly stick to themselves. They sometimes have barbecues together but you really arent invited. Youre perfectly ok with that though, because in the next neighborhood over, and in a few neighborhoods across town you have a lot of buddies that all fit your lifestyle. They come over occasionally to watch the game or to play cards. Life is pretty good...

There is this one neighbor though... He's your new next door neighbor, and he is a real fucking asshole. He constantly glares at you when he sees you outside and there have also been some instances in which he has made your wife and children feel very uncomfortable. You and your buddies have talked about it a little but they all convince you that its better left untouched. They dont want you to escalate the situation any and you agree. Its never going to go away no matter how hard you try to ignore it, but you agree not to escalate anything...

You also feel though, in your gut, that the reality is its actually going to someday get far worse. Your neighbor has now been making verbal threats against you directly and also towards your family. You tell him to cool it, that you dont want any trouble, but he just warns you to watch your back. His kids are throwing fireworks in your yard lately, and you also suspect that he may have something to do with your family cat going missing. Beer cans have been tossed over your back fence and there are some unpleasant items that have been thrown into your pool. His other neighboorhood buddies have started harrassing you some too now.

This is becoming unbearable. Your friends finally give in and tell you to just go talk to him man to man and try to come to a peaceful agreement. You agree, and catch him outside one day and try to strike up a conversation. It doesnt work. The peace talks are a useless answer and short lived from the first second.

This goes on and on and eventually your neighbor has been trying to break in your home. He has vandalized your property and slashed your tires. He now threatens to kill you and your family. Your kids are scared and your wife is terrified. You have theorized that he wants you gone so that his cousin can buy your house and they can be nighbors and live happily ever after. But this is your place. The only place youve ever had, and the economy and the job market dont really allow for you to move anyway. And why should you... You were there first...

Eventually your terrorist neighbor is going to try something big and you know that he really means it and truly wants to kill you and yours. The police arent helpful and only warn you not to take the law into your own hands. Everytime you call them they dont take it seriously, sometimes not even showing up. And your buddies; they still say to ignore it or try to make peace with him.

The reality still though, is that its all never going to work and you know it. Your arsenal that youve slowly collected from the very first glare awaits inside the house for the second he breaks in...

If it were you what would you do? I personally wouldnt have let it go this far to start with, but unfortunately with the United Nations having a say, this is the situation Israel lives daily. I personally feel that there is going to come a day when enough is enough and the very real arsenal is going to be unleashed. Theres no other resolution when it comes to radicals.

Sorry for the book, but it occupied me my last 20 minutes or so of work...

Good read and a great reasonable explanation....
Now can we get the leader of Iran to read/understand it?

Nope

But come what may, Israel is more than ready

I couldn't discern between your analogy and some old VA RW forum posts I remember reading. :D
