It's been two long years since John Hennessey announced plans to build his very own supercar, and we were beginning to wonder if it was ever going to happen. Apparently, Hennessey's plans are still a go as the Texas tuner just announced through its newsletter that the Venom GT will make its official public debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Since the initial press release, Hennessey has made a few changes to the car's proposed specs. Listed curb weight has dropped from 2700 to 2400 lbs and the engine is now a "Hennessey V8" rather than a twin-turbo Viper V10. Power rating is "up to 1,200 bhp" rather than the initially stated 1,000 and top speed has been listed as 272 mph. No matter what the final specifications, it sounds like the Venom GT will be sure to impress.

I just can't imagine nothing has leaked yet. No talk from anyone and no pictures. Maybe they are keeping a good wrap on things in a hidden garage...
No doubt he can find a frame and thrown an engine in it, but I'll bet my bile duct that there is no body or interior other than what exists on a hard drive somewhere in the way of CAD drawings and renditions. I could be wrong, though... I'm actually interested to see what he has done so far. This project (if completed) holds much more promise than the "Ultimate Aero" kit car looking POS...

I think he is just cutting up a lotus and adding some fender flares and a frame extension, hence the super light weight. I would suspect a chev v8 vs a dodge and he is probably just waiting on a guinea pig with a fat wallet to finance the whole thing.

I imagine he'll test that 272 top speed via the beltway:rofl:

Yeah, that is along the lines of what I was thinking. It sure looks a lot like a Lotus. I'm not trying to take anything away from his effort.

I wonder if it will come with the patented Hennescrew smoking package?

I think it will most likely come with the Hennescrew gearing that in some way takes a mildly modified v8 or v10 and "doubles" the engine output, word has it that it works best with customers with large wallets and low supercar experience

That's beacuse paper cars don't have leaks. If it's ever built, once all those used parts start breaking, I guarantee there'll be plenty of leaks.

Hennessey made Top Gear news as well:

Faster than a Veyron?
American (http://www.topgear.com/uk/tags/american) tuning firm Hennessey is best known for doing silly things to Cadillacs (http://www.topgear.com/uk/tags/cadillac), Corvettes (http://www.topgear.com/uk/tags/Corvette) and Dodges (http://www.topgear.com/uk/tags/dodge). But now it is readying a supercar of its own, which it plans to bring to the Geneva Motor Show in production form next March.
Sticking to the old mantra that any start-up supercar (http://www.topgear.com/uk/tags/supercar) manufacturer with no track record must make a whole bunch of borderline implausible claims about your car's likely performance, Hennessey has made a whole bunch of borderline implausible claims about its car's likely performance.
Ready for this? The mid-engined two-seater has been tagged the Venom GT, and will be powered by an as-yet-unspecified V8 putting out ‘up to 1,200bhp'. In a car with a kerbweight less than 1,090kg, Hennessey says that will be good for a 0-60mph time of 2.4 seconds - yep, quicker than a Veyron (http://www.topgear.com/uk/tags/bugatti-veyron) - and a top speed of 272mph.
Obviously we wouldn't want to encourage an atmosphere of unhealthy scepticism around TopGear.com, but - well, they're some pretty big numbers, ain't they? Anyone willing to put a tenner on the Hennessey Venom GT living up to its rather large promises?
Oh, and anyone spotting more than a passing similarity to the Lotus Exige GT3 racer?

Myself and another unnamed forum member are in the final stages of finishing a manned moon rocket venture that is revolutionary in its propulsion design. The rocket will be fueled with a witches' brew of Just Magic Ultimate Spotter & Stain Remover and Wipeout Extraction Defoamer. These products are readily available at most any professional carpet cleaner's product warehouse.

Your partner wouldn't be our very own Viperforums intellectual "Sadi" would it?
Amazing what can be done when 2 intellectuals extraordinaires get together!

I'm sorry but my partner is notoriously insecure and self conscious. Were I to disclose his identity and were he to receive any criticism at all, it would send him into spasmodic fits of fantasy and wild uncontrolled braggadocio. After which, he would end up in a fetal position under his bed.

You always seem to protect Bushido from the wrath of others...
Is that cleaning fluid left over from when he cleaned his restaurant floor last year? Or is it a new batch?
Hard to believe as it is "unasian" to clean a restaurant kitchen in the first place much less yearly
