Just curious what other guys are running with this combo. AZ heat sucks during summer, Tucson is high(er) elevation, and 91 octane is our premium.

I've been experimenting with timing and pump fuel. Since installing water injection, watching my A/F's, reading the plugs and listening for detonation. I'm actually thinking of leaning out the mixture some(current 10:1-10.5:1 across the board - pig rich) and retarding the timing a couple degrees on the top end. So far here's where I'm at:

Total timing advance BTDC:

9psi (I've only tested this a couple times on pump fuel, I don't typically run this much boost on the street):

Feedback recommended. Thanks in advance.

Only a few people here running meth on this website. Quite honestly, in your area, I would head up to Phoenix and talk to some of the Mustang tuners who are probably well versed in the right setup, regardless of the model of car. You may even be able to sit with them and work out a couple of tunes while you are there. Phoenix is only about 1000ft difference in elevation from Tucson.

How much compression are you running? What are your intake air temps? How much water methanol are you running, jetting size? What is your mixture of h20 and meth?

It's stock compression 9.6:1. Intake charge stays fairly close to ambient up to about 5psi (rear mount turbo, long intake tube + fresh airflow across the intake plenum keeps about ambient when moving), above 6 psi it tends to climb to +30 +50F. I have a range of nozzles, but currently running a total of 630ml/min that engages fully at 4psi with today a 70/30 (water/meth) mix.

AZ ambient road temps tend to be anywhere between 95-120 degrees.

I've been pulling plugs and reading them frequently, so far with no signs of detonation amazingly.

Last year I was having minor detonation issues in the extreme summer heat before the alky injection. Could have been a combination of carbon buildup and not cold enough plugs.

I'm just wondering if I'm a bit agressive on timing with 91 octane.

I keep the boost under 7psi unless running 96+ octane fuel.

I'm running water/meth with the twin screw and 10 pounds of boost.

Couldn't tell you how much timing advance though. My tuner takes care of that.

Hope you get it figured out.

Are you running an sts setup? How much horsepower at your 7psi( I assume this is your highest street setup)? I ran .64 Gallons/min nozzles with 650rwhp uncorrected. If you run this much h20/meth 50-60% mix(use more Methanol) then your timing is very conservative. I ran a whole lot more with intake temps in the 200's to start. When the water/meth would kick in it would immediately go down to the low 100's.
Good Luck.
