Racing cars is an obsession in Anderson, Indiana. Even with the closing of local auto factories and resultant loss of jobs, the town's residents continue to flock to the local speedway every Friday night - and its drivers continue to pour their dwindling resources into patching up their Thundercars for the next week. As much a demolition derby as a race, this cacophony of screeching tires and crashing metal gives Anderson's residents a chance to lose themselves for a couple of hours, channeling their hopes and frustrations into a wild weekly sprint for Thundercar supremacy.




In my opinion this is just another one of those things that will make people associate rednecks with any sort of auto racing... PINKS on Speed doesnt give any better of a representation. Athough competition is a natural human desire, drag racing (at least the NHRA) originated with rich kids in southern Cali. Now people associate it with rednecks racing their Cutlas down the strip...
