Scam ad on Auto Trader.

I saw the deal I linked to below and thought it was too good to be true. I emailed and my friend called. He never got anything back but I just got an email from what to me is obviously someone who is not a native english speaking person. Of course they are asking me to wire money to a 'ebay' escrow service. He will ship the car to me for free!!!! And when I get it they will release the money to him. And by the way, there is no need for me to see the car in person.... It is in perfect condition as in the pictures!!!!!! Also, the car is no longer in the location listed on the ad which is Tn. Now it is in Montana.

I found a guy who I believe was talking to the 'seller' on another forum. I hope he didnt get scammed.

I just wanted to post here to help avoid anyone getting ripped off. I am looking for my first Viper now and could have gotten sucked in had the guy/girl been more smooth.

Good post! I once had a problem like this and I called the feds to see if they can do anything. Turns out the girl had 3 SSN and technically they couldnt do anything until she did something illegal. At least they had their eyes on her.

It is a scam. No way around it. See the below. The vin he gave is the same one the other guy I mentioned was in the process of buying.

The guys name is Patrick Pe ter son. I am intentionally putting spaces in so he cant google his own name. He email address is "Patrick Pe ter eson" <patrickpe ter eson@gmail.com>




The guy just emailed me back after I asked for the vin. Here is his response:

'This is teh Vin # 1B3JZ69Z26V100984. I work in the army and I don't have time to meet anybody ( for security reasons ). Sorry for any inconvenience. I made all the shipping arrangements, all I must to do is to confirm the delivery address. I have also another buyer interested in it, so if you like it please read my previous email and give me a final answer today. The deal can be concluded only through eBay.'



And this is the question I asked him to get the response above:
What is the VIN on the car. I want to give it to my insurance company.

Also, can I arrange to see the car in person? I can fly to Helena. The flights there are very cheap right now.

The guy is a dick. Hes making it seem like hes in special ops or something.... Cant see anybody for security reasons... Unless hes a person who technically doesnt exist and somehow he got his hands on a viper, and is now selling it for half its value....

I hope he gets his one day.
